Alby Hub is lightning-node software that Get Alby sells as a service. It's also free and open source. You can run it on a node such as Umbrel or Start9. I even was able to run it on Ubuntu. I use VaultWarden as a password manager and copy and paste all my passphrases. I was in a Jitsi meeting. You know how it is. Bitcoiners are super interesting smart people. I take complete responsibility. I take complete responsibility. I hadn't even written down my seed phrase yet.

I didn't lose any sats though; aside from the 10,000 sats, it cost me to open up the channel. This is because I am very careful about sending larger sums of bitcoin to wallets before I write down the seed or test them. I might send 21,000 SATs or something like that to see if I can recover them before I send more. We used to say "don't be reckless," but that ethos can get lost in all the excitement of this cutting-edge technology we call the lightning network.
The Bright Side of Forgetting My Passphrase on Alby Hub

)

There is an orange lining to this story. The other beta tester in the meeting got it to work. He played a game called Zappy Bird. This is not an endorsement of Zappy Bird. I think it's a gambling version of Flappy Bird. I am not a gamer, and I would just lose my seat if I played this for any length of time. This allowed me to see the possibilities of Alby Hub, however, even though I screwed up my first try. My mother, like many of your mothers, I'm sure, always said, "If at first you don't succeed, then try again."

" Even though it didn't work for me at first, I got a glimpse into how awesome Alby Hub was anyway. The second time I Alby Hub on PopOS! by following the instructions on the README file. That worked. It was surprisingly easy, but we were in the early days, and my channel was force closed. The issue seems to be fixed now that it's released to the public. I'm amazed at how much cleaner it is now. I also had a few other problems connecting my node to my Alby account because it was connected to the original node. The good people at Get Alby fixed that, however. I'm really impressed with their customer service. Screwing up my first node gave me the opportunity to learn this about the company.

Screwing up my first node gave me the opportunity to learn this about the company. I continued to use the GetAlby API during this time. I continued to use the GetAlby API during this time. I thought API's were super scary. 3 I don't even know what API stands for. Thanks to some of the people like Bitkarrot from Plebnet.dev, I am comfortable using them. A few weeks ago, I was able to make some video tutorials that teach businesses how to accept bitcoin. I am aware most businesses prefer fiat. It occurred to me: why would a business care if the fiat in their bank account comes from Strike or Mastercard? Of course, businesses that want to accept bitcoin can keep the sats. One business owner I know who is listed on BTCmaps did not want to use Strike because he liked seeing the stats on his phone.

Get Alby On Umbrel Or Start9

As I eluded to earlier, you can now run GetAlby on Start9 or Umbrel. If you're a command-line ninja, run it on Ubutnu. Don't be reckless. Only use amounts you are willing to lose. Ably doesn't have access to your seeds, but it is still a hot wallet. It is also still very new. Expect bugs. Expect channel closures. Don't just be a whinny complainy-pant about it. Help improve it. Make a pull request if you must. If you are not as technical. Don't worry. They plan to be on the Umbrel and Start9 app stores soon.

Alby Hub on Umbrel or Start 9 require the Lightning Node app. If you self-hose, your seed is on your Lightning Node app. Write these 24 words down and keep them safe.
Why I Am So Excited About Alby Hub

Although I did some beta testing for GetAlby's Alby Hub, I didn't receive any sats from them aside from a couple zaps here and there, but this is not a paid ad or sponsored blogpost. I don't think I can make a better guide than they have on their website. I am excited about Alby Hub because it makes accepting bitcoin so easy. I am excited about Alby Hub because it makes accepting bitcoin so easy. I'm not sure your grandmother could do it, but most computer-literate people could easily run Alby Hub. But wait... This also means my lightning node works for other apps besides Alby Hub. It also works with the LNbits installed on my Umbrel. I bet it works with BTCpayServer too, but I haven't verified this yet. This means businesses will soon be able to accept bitcoin by:

Buying a $400 minicomputer like Umbrel or Start9 ($800).

Using Alby Hub in the Cloud and integrating it into other clients that use Nostr Wallet Connect

Setting up an online bitcoin store on Shopster or Plebeian Market will be easy.

-+ The Uncle Jim Model just got 10x easier.

For example, what if I sold LNBit's POS extension and gave someone access to use my LNBits as a POS? shop could use LNBits as a POS terminal all of a sudden. I could build a bitcoin POS system for a local business using old comouters in my strategic computer reserve. Okay, I admit it. I'm a computer hoarder. I never recycle old computers unless they are unrepairable. There are so many ways to use the lightning network now. Find out more at <np-embed url="https://getalby/hub">https://getalby/hub</np-embed>. We can use these tools in creative ways. What if, instead of using BTCpayServer to help businesses accept bitcoin, we create a BTCpayServer-like product list on Shopster instead?

Using Alby Hub to Monetize My Blog

As I thought more about this, it occurred to me I should start a business with all of this stuff. Some people at my local meetup have asked me to help them set up a lightning node. Tools exist that make it easy enough to do consulting for anyone over tools like Keet or Hivetalk.org/. I also want to sell T-shirts. I've had the idea to sell bitcoin t-shirts that say Pay Me In Bitcoin. This one time, I played poker in Vegas during Def-Con. I was there for poker at the time. I've never been to DefCon. Some nerd had a QR code on his T-shirt. I'm not sure what it was. It was the first time I ever saw a QR code.

I was able to design this T-shirt with the help of Dell E 3. I'm using some of the techniques I learned in the 4-hour workweek to design this shirt, but instead of hiring a graphic designer in a third-world country, I hired computer power from PayPerQ. A website I learned about on getalby.com. Around the time of the halving, some dude at my job asked me if I think he'll ever be able to afford a whole bitcoin for each of his kids. I said I didn't know. He told me he makes way more than my family, but he hasn't started stacking SATs yet. He also told me he pays for Chat GPT because it is "only $30 a month." That's $360 of sats he could have stacked per year. I wouldn't be surprised if $360 stacked in bitcoin is worth $3,600 in five years.

Many people who say they will never spend bitcoin often spend money on other fiat things because they were raised with a hyper-consumer mental framework. Many others think AI will kill us like the Terminator, but people like Andreas Antonopolis and Paul Vigna wrote books about bitcoin getting used as a medium of exchange for AI almost a decade ago. The lightning network was clunky and difficult back when I first ran a MyNode and entered my public key into yalls.org to write about bitcoin. I bought a sticker from Blockstream with the Eclair Wallet back then, but it was hard to see how the lightning network could come over the technical hurdles for the majority of the people.

Tools like Alby Hub give me hope for the future. I listened to Natalie Brunell's Coin Stories this morning. The guest is a gold bug. She said something my wife is even still concerned with. The government will never allow bitcoin to be used for payments. They will capture it before this happens.

She is right in a sense. I am sure the governments of the world will not want to give up the power to print money and expand and contract the economy as they see fit. The digital alternative to central banking will not be welcomed by governments. Plebs build it anyway. The government of the United States has the most powerful weapons ever known to humankind. This government has an arsenal big enough to destroy the world many times over. I'm not certain bitcoin will survive an existential event such as this. I do not doubt the POTUS could Executive Order 6102.2 every Saturday in the ETF's overnight. To ban tools that make it easy to use the bitcoin lightning network as payments requires banning computers and banning software distributed all over the world. It seems like governments would have a difficult time banning computers.

Now that I think of it, Natalie Brunel could use Alby Hub to accept steaming sats and boosts to her podcast. She can host it in the cloud or on a plug and play node like Umbrel or Start9.

I bought belt from LeatherMint and liked it so much, I decided to write a testimonial. This is a value 4 value testimonial, not a paid ad. I’ve always been suspicious about ads. I know rhetorical tools like ethos are a super-duper effective form of persuasion, but I’ve always found it suspicious. I understand Michael Jordan was the GOAT basketball player. If Jordan has advice for becoming a better basketball player, you should listen to him, but his ability to pick underwear might not be a slam dunk.

Even if someone paid me to tell you camel hair underwear is the most comfortable underwear on the planet, I wouldn't want to write a testimonial about it. I am shilling LeatherMint’s belts because they are low time preference accessories.

I needed a good belt. I'm a bitcoiner and we're cheapskate's. We don't like to spend our precious sats. I keep my underwear until it has more holes than the moon. That's why I need a good belt. I know privacy is not a popular right these days, but I don't want my pants to fall because I don't expose my holy underwear to the world. Privacy is a human right. I use my belt to protect my privacy.

The belt is custom made to fit my waist. If you're not sure about your belt size, his guide explains how to find it easy-peasy style. He even makes half-sizes. Maybe you learn this if you shop at Nordstrom's or something, but I never knew how to choose a belt size. Most belts I buy have a range of sizes like 34-36, but not my belt from LeatherMint. It's made just for me.

The buffalo leather is smooth and sturdy. Many belts I've owned flap around and stretch out. Not this one. The brass hardware looks better than the crap metal and stitches on my old belt. For the record, I may know a lot about bitcoin, but my fashion sense is abysmal. I've always bought belts that were too long and didn't fit right. Maybe that's why my other belts flapped around like that. Regardless, this belt was 4 times more expensive than my old belt, but it was worth every sat. I think it will last longer than a store bought belt. Besides, the Bitcoin And Podcast discount was was also too sexy to resist.

I bought my last belt from J.C. Penny's for $25.00 on Black Friday. It can best be described as black, flimsy, and cheap. According to the words stamped on the leather: "hecho in India." It's branded with the Levi's jeans logo. Levi's was my favorite brand of jeans in the 80's. Founded in San Fransisco in the midst of the gold rush. They sold low-time preference clothes at a time when people panned for low time preference money. Levi's were made in America and rugged. I used to care about that, but almost nothing but arrests are made in the US these days. Back in the day, they had commercials that said, "buy American and American's work." Fast food is just abput the only thing the US still makes.

This belt was made in Canada, but as far as I'm concerned, it was made by a ₿itcoiner. Buy from a ₿itcoiner and ₿itcoiners work. LeatherMint put his proof of work into this belt and it shows.

Most clothes, like fiat money, are not built to last anymore. It's difficult to build a long lasting wardrobe in a world of fast fashion, but bitcoin fixes this. It makes you think twice about spending money on clothes you'll need to replace in less than a year and it seems like LeatherMint makes belts that are built to last.

Proof of Respect

proof of respect

The belt shipped to my PO box in a black box with a proof of respect card with a QR code on the back. I assumed it was a reciept, but I was wrong. It's a bitcoin address. People send bitcoin to this address as a tip.

According to LeatherMint, "There's a respect vibe to leather. And respect goes both side. I feel it from my clients and I try to show them too.

And yeah respect is important to me. Before money I think my real goal is gaining respect from the Bitcoin community. Money will flow from there."

I never thought much about this before, but it makes sense. It's simmilar to the importance of reputation the cypherpunks emphasized decades ago. Belts should be respected because it cost the life of a buffalo. Great care and craftsmanship went into making this belt. I can see how respect is required in leatherwork. LeatherMint puts his proof of work into his craft. You won't be sorry for buying one of his belts.

Clothes made under the fiat standard are not built to last anymore. It's difficult to build a long lasting wardrobe in a world of fast fashion, but bitcoin fixes this.

Build The Bitcoin Economy on Nostr

In my last blogI wrote about how Bitcoin is not a belief, but applied elliptical curve cryptography. It is not a circle, but keys are like a half circle with squiggly lines. Nevertheless, it is common to hear the Bitcoin economy described as a circular economy. One of my favorite writers of bitcoin philosophy, Knut Svanholm, does not like this term. He says there's nothing circular about it. He knows much more about math than me, so he's probably correct, but I like the term because it creates a nice visual.

The Casino Economy

We will first use the shitcoin casino economy to contrast this Bitcoin circular economy. The shitcoin gamblers don't care much about the second sentence of the Bitcoin White Paper:

"Digital signatures are part of the solution, but the main benefits are lost if a trusted third party is still required for spending."

The majority of bitcoin traders are gamblers who treat bitcoin like a casino chip. They deposit their money with the casino like Coinbase. This casino doesn't have some old lady wears a vest and a visor. They automatically deposit casino chips in your account. it's not a revolution. It's accounting. They gamble like someone betting 100 bucks on hard eights. These chips, the coins they shill only have value in the coinbase casino. Chips from the Bellagio have value at the Bellagio. Therefore, you can use to play blackjack at the Bellagio. Shitcoins can be used to bet on a line going up or down like red or black on a roulette wheel. Try and use these same chips at Cesar's palace, and you'll probably receive a wellness check.

Assuming you have all your facilities, you would never try to buy an energy drink at Walgreen's in Las Vegas with a Bellagio chip.. Walgreens accepts credit cards, debit cards, and paper portrits of presidents and the guy who invented spectacles. The casino chips are a token not money or accepted for payments anywhere except for the casino.

How Most People Use Bitcoin

As much as I hate to admit it, most people with an account at a cryptocurrency casino treat Bitcoin like a casino chip at the Bellagio. They do not sell fiat like the ride or die freaks and computer geeks who know the difference between hexadecimal and binary, how many days until the halving what the total supply of bitcoin will be in the year 2032, or how to live on zero fiat.

People who do not take custody of their bitcoin do not own Bitcoin. They trade BTC for USD like a game of chance. Instead of drawing a card at poker, they draw the Bolinger band and bet on whatever this computerized oracle supposedly tells them. Bitcoin is not a revolution for these people. It is late stage fiat. If their currency collapsed, they would think they got rich until they realize the USD they were trading for is not a very good store of value.

As celebrated as the Bitcoin ETF's in the US were, they are not peer to peer electronic cash, but merely chips at a bigger Casino. Like the Bellagio chip, this Bitcoin cannot be spent at Walgreen's. They never consider buying a Walgreen's gift card from Bitrefill or Visa gift card from The Bitcoin Company. They think nostr is a boring, decentralized version of Twitter. They do not recognize it as a Galt's Gulch Online with an online marketplace, and an Internet which is not controlled by corporations--corporations that are controlled by government.

gold/real estate

They don't see bitcoin as a new system. They use it in the old system. They want real estate built with fake money. They buy bitcoin or the thousands of other cryptocurrencies in the hopes of obtaining more dollars because the American dream is dead. They never think to price homes in gold since 1971. Stay proud, gamble sats.

Gambling is nothing new under the moon. In the Bible, Jonah was on a ship in a big storm. The sailors thought they could calm the storm by throwing a man overboard. They chose the man to throw by throwing lots, an ancient dice game. Jonah drew the short end of the stick so to speak. As the story goes, he ended up in the belly of the whale. He was saved by the grace of god. Maybe the story is true, maybe it isn't, but that's not the point. The point is to teach us ancient wisdom from ancient people. As Jordan Peterson says, Pinocchio is a different version of the same archetype. Maybe you don't believe in Jordan Peterson because he doesn't recognize your preferred pronoun. Maybe you are pro pronoun, maybe you are anti-pronoun. Who cares? You are focusing on the current thing, the thing the media wants you to focus on. It's the fiat matrix, "the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth." You are told bitcoin is for criminals and money launderers. You are told real estate goes up in value, but you are not told houses cost less ounces of gold then they did in 1971. You argue about whether or not we need to decrease the gender wage gap, but forget one person needed one job to afford a house, a car, and food when money was backed by gold.

The point of the story is gambling can get you into trouble. The wisdom of the ancient people tell us gambling is a bad idea, you're better off saving your money. The problem with fiat is that it forces you to gamble because you can't save it. Sure, you can keep your bullshit pay in a savings account that pays 0.01% interest, but that's not going to help you save for a house. The price of housing goes up faster than the price of wages. You either gamble or you are guaranteed to lose.

Much of my youth was misspent gambling. I was profitable, but it came with great opportunity cost. I could have spent that time learning to code, writing a book, or starting a family. I bought poker chips instead and constantly tried to turn them into more fiat.

I understand why people gamble on crypto. I understand why they get scared when crypto casinos like FTX steal their money. It has to do with that second sentence of the Bitcoin white paper again. The one thing I would like to tell these people is Bitcoin makes it possible to save again. It makes long term saving more profitable than gambling.

The Bitcoin Circular Economy

![nostr market(https://i.nostr.build/V387.png)]

The bitcoin circular economy is using bitcoin as peer-to-peer electronic cash instead of bitcoin. It is an economy of people who no longer price bitcoin in fiat, but price everything else in bitcoin. If more people thought this way, there would never be a need for so many people to keep their bitcoin on casinos. They could just save it and watch their ability to buy more stuff over time sans any crazy casino blow-ups. That means there is no honey pot for unscrupulous dorks like SBF to steal.

Bitcoin becomes something you use to buy things with. You buy beef with Bitcoin because everyone needs to eat. You buy pins from BTC Pins because the look cool, and hats from Bitcoin Hat guy to cover your bald spot. I believe Bitcoin needs to get off the exchanges and into the hands of the people. Not only will this be the best possible outcome for the BTC/fake_money charts, but it will be better for humanity.

You don't need to buy dollars to “take profits”. You can just spend your bitcoin to buy things you want and need. As the value increases, you can buy more thins, but you'll find you don't want many of those things anymore. The question is, how do we do that?

Shop With Sats

It is now possible to get paid in Bitcoin and never send it back to an exchange, but much of this is sending your sats to a middle man. I'm certain they need to sell these sats for dollars to convert them into ars to pay your mortgage. I don't have a problem with this. I belive using services like bitrefill are still good for Bitcoin because they keep their profits in bitcoin, but that's not what this blog post is about.

There are Groupon like apps like Oshi that are awesome, It's a good spot to find Business like the Bitcoin beef initiative that accept Bitcoin for everyday goods and services. You can buy coffee and beef with it online, even if no shops around you accept Bitcoin. You can find brick and mortar Bitcoin accepting business by downloading BTCMaps on F-Droid, the App Store or Google Play. The Orange Pill App now has a similar feature on the site. Sell collectibles on scarce city, or sell junk on sats crap. I'm sure there are more places that accept Bitcoin as payment, but they're scattered throughout the Internet and not easy to find.

These services and apps are great, but what we really need is a decentralized marketplace. I am aware that darknet markets exist, but that's not what I mean. We need a bitcoin version of Facebook Marketplace. A place where you can find a wide variety of goods and services.

Nostr Marketplace

It just so happens such a market place exists on nostr. There are three options I am aware of:

plebian.market
shopstr
LNbits Nostr Marketplace(requires the nostr extension)
The Amethyst App.

Say you have some used underwear to sell. Post it on plebian marketplace. That was supposed to be a joke, but now that I think of it, I bet there's good money in selling used underwear. Nevertheless, it's this really cool corner of the Internet where people can sell stuff for Bitcoin on nostr, an emerging marketplace. We are so early. There is not much stuff on there yet, but we need to promote it. Look. Here's the thing. People are tired of you telling them to buy Bitcoin. Use my link so i can get a few thousand sats. Go to this exchange, Watch the fiat news to see the BTC/fake_money charts and the next exchange collapse. Panic sell your sats. Rinse and Repeat.

I have some bad news for you. That's not helping bitcoin adoption. That's giving most people who don't have the ability to save another option to gamble. Some small percentage of these people will realize they are slaves like Neo in the Matrix and follow us down the rabbit hole, but most neurotypical people will get scared and sell their Bitcoin before experiencing their first halving. So stop telling people to buy bitcoin.

Teach them how to earn, spend, and save bitcoin instead. Have them download the Fountain app. Have them listen to your favorite Bitcoin podcast and earn sats while they listen. Send them a few thousand sats Get them used to the idea that Bitcoin is no a poker chip, but electronic cash. Warn them of the risks of trusted third parties. Teach them this is not their Bitcoin until they send it to a wallet in which they control the keys.

Help them create nostr keys. Have them write down the 12 words and keep them somewhere safe( I use amethyst, I don't know how you back your keys up). This also good practice for learning how to use BIP39 words when they eventually buy a Cold Card too. Now they are on nostr, If they have something to sell, they also have a way to accept Bitcoin without being an IT wizard , getting a business license, or taking a selfie.🤳Android users can use Amethyst to add stuff to the nostr marketplace. Now they have the ability to earn Bitcoin as they learn Bitcoin.

Shop Nostr Marketplace

It's very early, but I want to see less complainy-pants Bitcoiners comparing nostr to X-Twitter and more Bitcoiners using nostr to sell stuff for sats. You should also encourage others to do the same. Most of the stuff people sell will kinda suck at first, but as we progress, it will get better. There's already some quality stuff like socks or LeatherMint belts

Let's work to increase Bitcoin adoption by shopping and selling on nostr. Have a wife who's really into arts and crafts, but tired of hearing you talk about how Bitcoin is going to the moon? Why not have her sell some of her Cricut creations on nostr? We can't wait for hyperbitcoinization to happen by encouraging Bitcoin gambling. We will get more Bitcoin off the exchanges if we get it into the hands of The People by bootstrapping a robust bitcoin marketplace.

Shop The Bitcoin Circular Economy

In an effort to help build the circular economy, I want to increase awareness of businesses that accept bitcoin as payment. These are not Paid Ads. I list these companies because I use their services and find them valuable. I hope they find value in my word of mouth advertizing. Please spend some sats with them to support the circular economy

The following is a list of business that I use:

Coinkite

You have heard of them for sure, the maker of the world famous Cold Card. If you don't have a cold card, you need to get your shit in order, but the company makes at least 50 products. I don't have a discount code for this company, but listen to a bitcoin podcast and I'm sure you will find one. Coin kite does a lot of other cool shit too, like the satschip, a product designed for artists. NFT's are a scam, but physical art is a real thing. Artists who add the satschip to their physical artworks can throw a photo of the artwork on the CoinKite website. These jpegs are not NFT's. They are not Ordinals. They are art with a chip that works similar to the Tap Signer, except the seed can never be revealed. It ties the physical paining, a , et al. to the bitcoin blockchain. It's neat way of tying art to digital scarcity without all the scammy bullshit associated with NFT's

Bitrefill let's Me buy gift cards with bitcoin. I used to use it to pay my bills, but they have since discontinued that service. I still think it's a great company and use it as a way to get discounts on certain stores like CryptoCloaks.

The Bitcoin Company sells gift cards and Visa Cards online. I recently ordered a part for a composer and the customer service rep asked me to send my credit card number and secret code over email. I didn't feel comfortable sending that information, but I was able to buy a Visa Card with the exact amount to get my composter parts. They used the credit card and I got my parts, but there is no more money on the credit card. Information longs to be free, so guard your credit card numbers.

CryptoCloaks is a company that sells 3D printed items for sats. I hae bought quite a few things off them. Most recently, a case that my S9 which has been converted into a heater. He has a lot of other cool stuff too. Check him out.

BitcoinHatGuy has sold hats for bitcoin for decades and I have spent more sats on these hats than I feel comfortable admitting, but have never regretted my purchases. In real life, I'm one of those wierdos that wears the same thing everyday: Black T-Shirt and Gray pants, but I have an extensive hat collection. I buy most of my hats with bitcoin and most of those hats were bought from BTChatGuy. They're great, cheaper than MLB or even minor league baseball hats and I don't watch sports anyway. If you wear hats, buy a hat from this dude.

Robosats

Bitcoin exchanges are some of the biggest spenders in the bitcoin content creation market. They are the bread and butter for content creators. This makes sense, because they also get the most in fees. According to David Bennet from the Bitcoin and Podcast, The Cash App had over a billion bucks in revenue from bitcoin sales alone. Good. I'm happy for the Block, but smaller bitcoin only exchanges like RoboSats don't get the exposure they deserve because they don't have the marketing budget. RoboSats is a peer to peer exchange. It's only on TOR, but they also have an app on the Andoroid store for those too timid for TOR.

Robosats is a bitcoin escrow service. They hold bitcoin in escrow and wait for conformation that payment has been recieved. Bitcoin sellers generally sell for about 5% above market value to provide KYC Free Sats to customers. Fiat settlements are made using the Cash App, Strike, or even Amazon gift cards. We should market the p2p exchanges like this more. Robosats incentives this by giving users or referal codes. Refer someone to RoboSats using your referral code and you will get 100 sats for each trade. I would like to see people shill RoboSats and pick up these sats on social media. So I am not only asking you to use RoboSats, but I am also asking you to shill it. I had nodeless.io on the list, but the tyrannical government of Canada shut it down. When I attempt to orange pill normies, the objection I most often need to overcome is "Bitcoin can never work because the government[state] will shut it down. The 100k bitcoiners in the world know it does not work that way, but most CPI believers think the government just needs to shut down the single bitcoin computer to take it all away. Perception is reality as they say. And yeah, we won't all turn off our bitcoin mining heaters or shut off our nodes, but I have seen online Poker get decimated by government policies. They did not succeed at ending online poker, but they essentially ended access to online poker for anyone with a sub 120 IQ. If we want bitcoin to be for everybody, we need to make it easy for people to buy non-KYC bitcoin. RoboSats is making that their mission.

Nostr.build

Nostr Native video and image storage. you can login with your npun instead of an email or using nip07. The premium membership also includes access to btcpayserver, but you'll need to set it up. The subscription lasts one year, but the developers told me they won't actually delete your photos for two years. I love nostr.build and think it is an underrated resource in the nostr community

BTCPins

BTCPins sells cool bitcoin collectible PINS. They're reasonably priced and look great. He only accepts bitcoin because he is a true ride or die freak. He is also one of the meetup organizers in Southern California and wears hats sold by Bitcoin author, Knut Svanholm. He's the real deal.

Strike

Strike would pay me like five or ten bucks if I had you sign up with them via my referral link, but I'm not recommending them for the referral money. This is about recommending services I use. Strike is the best way to send fiat around the world. I also know that many bitcoiners don't like the idea of spending their own bitcoin, Strike gives you the ability to instantaneously convert fiat to bitcoin and vice-versa. I would rather have the hodl never sodl people spend fiat in the circular economy this way.

In a perfect world, Strike would not comply with KYC laws, but like I said, it's the best way to send fiat around the world.(or people on Robosats who could be anywhere in the world.) I also think if a KYC free exchange is to expensive, you're better off stacking a little on a KYC exchange than not stacking at all. Budgets are tight these days. If you can only stack a penny this paycheck, stack that penny with Strike. Need to send fiat to Mexico, use Strike instead of Western Union.

Seed Signer

Seed Signer is a raspberry pi with no Wi-Fi. You can make your own or buy one from the store. The seed signer does not have a secure element, but it also does not store your seed on the device. Therefore, you must write down your seed and enter it into the device every time you plug it in. This sounds like a pain in the ass, and it is if you do it that way, but it comes with a camera and a unique neat feature. You can create a QR code using a pen and paper.(You'll need access to a printer too) Actually, I recommend using a pencil and paper. It's easy to make a mistake so you might want to erase it. You can always go over it with a felt tip pen later if you're worried about a man in the middle attack. You can also use it for nostr keys I think, but I have not tried this feature. I would not trust all my bitcoin with any wallet, but this is an excellent wallet to use as part of a multisig with Sparrow Wallet or Specter Desktop.

Get Alby

Get Alby is my favorite desktop wallet. I've made spme videos about them here and highly recomend it because you can use it as a custodial wallet or hook it up to your own node. I also respect this product a lot. Back in 2017 or 2018 we had the Joule browser extension, but you had basically had to be a lightning engineer to get it to work. I wasted many hours of my life away trying to get it to work on my browser with no dice. Alby is about 100X improvement over the old Joule days. They also have some cool nostr features and make it easy to login to websites. Full disclosure, I have no idea how they make money.

Plebai

You put a dollar into a vending machine and it spits out bubbly sugar water. This data vending machine works like that. You put im 100 sats and it will genorate an AI image or create a summary for your blog. It's an awesome service and does not require a subscription like some of the fiat competition.

LeatherMint
I bought a belt from leathermint and it was one of the best purchases I ever made online. I highly recommend buying things from this site <np-embed url="https://theleathermint.com/">https://theleathermint.com/</np-embed>. I wrote about my experience here.

These are not all the products I use, and I will add more over time. If you have a bitcoin side hustle or sell a bitcoin related product, let me know about it. I'm always interested in learning about more bitcoin companies.

₿logging₿itcoin

Let's play in the Land of Makebelief today. Imagine the Blackrock EFF is aproved. The price of a sat pumps to $0.001. The fiat maxis like on the microblogging company formally known as Twitter rejoice. We have regulatory clarity. The custodial lightning wallets get banned like online poker. NGU for the win. Bitcoin becomes another investment locked into the third party trust paradigm, but nobody uses it as peer-to-peer electronic cash. They sell their bitcoin for CBDC's to buy groceries and pay for their car payment(The van they live in) The government can keep tabs on them no matter where they're parked. Yay suits!

But the US goober-mint decides to levy an emergency inflation tax on anyone who sells their blackRock ETF's. Now, suit-maxi Bitcoiner Bob is required to pay a 50% tax on top of his 15% capital gains tax. Lucky for you, the capital gains tax is programed right into the CBDC so you won't need a CPA. The CPI is "going down", stabilized at 3.3%, but your grocery bill, electric bill, and everthing else you need day to day inexplicably rises 15% every year. Yay democracy!

Meet Alice, Living On The Bitcoin Standard

Alice is sophisticated. Alice is sassy. Not so long ago, she decided she would not send her fiat to Mr. Blackrock. She asked herself, why buy Black rocks when I can buy orange coins? On second thought, why send fiat to some corporation at all? Why not sell stuff for bitcoin instead? Be your own business and be your own bank. She gets on nostr. She makes candles and sells them for Bitcoin on clients like Shopster and Plebian Market. She uses some of her profits to buy coffee and beef with Bitcoin. She saves the rest because she subscribes to Matt Odell's newsletter: She meticuliousy follows the advice of this daily newsletter. "Stay humble. Stack Sats."

Alice sells candles. She has a job, but this side hustle earns about $500 worth of bitcoin every month. She still thinks inflation sucks, but at least she is stacking value that cannot be debased. Therefore she expects to retire in about 2 more halfings. In about 8 years, she plans on buying some land, hooking her van up to water and sewage on this land and growing most of her food. She's rich, according to fiat standards, but doesn't see the need to waste sats on status symbols. Status symbols are a security holes.

The Importance of The Circular Economy

The circular economy is the bitcoin economy. It's composed of hardcore Bitcoiners who use Bitcoin as peer to electronic cash. They prefer this electronic cash to fiat trash. Fiat cash is guaranteed to buy less and less stuff over time. Therefore, those who take part in the circular economy trade goods and services for bitcoin instead of trading bullshit pay for Bitcoin. Some argue there is no circular economy. There is just the economy and it does not make sense to spend sats when it goes up in value so much. I think this is misguided and will explain why in a little bit. For now, we will d efine what the circular economy means: Simply buying goods and services with bitcoin.

Bitcoin used in the circular economy is outside "the system". If this Bitcoin is only used to buy goods and services between Bitcoiners, that p2p electronic cash will never be exchanged for fiat tr, it will be used to buy more things like coffee and and beef. If you're one of the NGU maxis, think about what that means for a moment. The bitcoin used in the circular economy will remain off the exchanges. When the exchagnes run out of bitcoin, what do you think will happen to the "bitcoin price?" The less Bitcoin on the exchanges, the more valuable it becomes. Therefore, the more people who opt to buy clothes, and coffee using bitcoin in the circular economy instead of using credit cards to buy low time preference crap at the mall, the less bitcoin will be available for trading shitcoins like ETH and USD on the exchanges. That's like NGU to the moon.

When viewed from this perspective, stacking sats and buying goods and services from people who accept Bitcoin for their products is akin to stacking harder. In other words, more sats are stacked in aggregate. Ben Franklin once said, "a penny saved us a penny earned". By the same logic, a sat spent in the circular economy is a sat stacked. I'm not saying waste your sats and spend frivolously. Spend sats carefully. Set a budget . Spend on things you will use. But it's better to spend Bitcoin on products and services offered by hardcore Bitcoiners than spend fiat on Amazon. Spending Fiat on Amazon does not put more Bitcoin into the hands of another fellow Bitcoiner. Spending for more things using bitcoin will create the Intransigent Minority Cory from Swan wrote about.

WTF Are Non-Paid ADs?

You have undoubtedly seen paid advertisements and affiliate marketing. This is not that. V4V ads are more like word of mouth adverting. This makes my ads free from influence. These companies are free to zap me after the fact, but I came up with this list on my own because I believe in these companies and have used them. One of the reasons I started writing a blog about using bitcoin is because I wanted to promote the circular economy. I believe the best way to support this economy is to tell the world about companies that accept bitcoin for payment. In case you didn't get the memo, Cory Klippsten says we need ten million bitcoiners to become an intransigent minority for hyperbitcoinization to occur. To me, this not only means stacking sats, but also using bitcoin as p2p cash. This is not to say saving is unimportant. It is important to save, but you need to eat. Buy some groceries with bitcoin. I don't really need to drink coffee, buy I do, so I will buy coffee with sats. You might think, I would rather spend $ 12 bucks on Foldgers than $ 20 on bitcoin coffee. I'll buy sats with the difference.

Maybe, but if you buy coffee with sats, even sats you insta-converted from fiat on Strike, you contribute to taking more bitcoin off the exchanges. When I bought a 3D printed heater case from Crypto Cloaks, I know those sats most won't end up on an exchange. I assume the same is true for the bitcoin coffee sellers. This is not a new idea. My brother in law owns a business. He likes to shop locally even though he knows he can find a better price at WalMart. Shopping locally helps support his local economy. He wants the money he earns to stay in his community. Bitcoin is a world wide monetary network, but we have our own "local bitcoin economy." That local economy happens to be on The Internet, so you might buy stuff from someone in your own town, or across the world. I may live in California, but I still consider products I buy with Bitcoin from companies located in Canada my local community. In some ways that community is even more local than my meat space community. It's in my pocket. I don't even need to leave my house.

That's more important than an ETF in my opinion. That's why I support participating in the circular economy. The problem bitcoin solves, the Byzantine General's problem, cannot be solved by trusting a third party like Black Rock. The problem bitcoin solves can only be solved if bitcoin is used as peer to peer electronic cash and saved in the bitcoin network. I support companies that support this mission of keeping bitcoin native. You won't see ads for gold or hardware wallet's I don't like or have never used . Bitcoin Panties might be a fine company, but I don't endorse bitcoin panties, because I don't wear panties. There are a few companies I believe have great potential, but are not ready for the masses quite yet. My V4V ads attempt to highlight companies like this and find the best solutions to my own problems.

I Thought The Value 4 Value Model Did Not Use Ads

I disagree. The Value 4 Value model does not use paid ads. These are not those ads. Paid ads often seem disingenuous. Tom Brady is or was a great football player(So I hear) Jillions of people trusted his opinion about FTX because he handles pig-skin balls very well. People associate his pig-skin ball throwing skills with his ability to pick great crypto companies. It's a common rhetorical trick, but it's dumb. That's like saying I can predict the winner of the next SuperBowl because I know how to create a vanity address. This is not true because cryptography and football have nothing to do with each other. I kinda get why people like Jordan's shoes, but doubt sneakers made by Chinese children will improve my jump shot. Nor do I believe Mike would he wear Hanes underwear if Hanes didn't they did not pay him. I often feel the same way when hearing some bitcoiner podcasts talk about certain products. Block-Fi is an obvious examples, but I often feel the same about some of the hardware wallets people shill. I don't have anything bad to say about BitBox02, but I've never used the wallet, so I would not feel comfortable shilling it, even if they offered to pay me. I'm sure it's a fine wallet. I wish BitBox all the best, I just can't vouch for them because I have never used one. I have a ledger nano that is about as old as a certain podcasters ledger nano, but I do not recommend them because I often get phishing emails from their official website among other things. They would pay me $20 for every customer I refer them if I joined their affiliate program, but I can't accept that money in good conscious.

So these are not ads for Hanes underwear. If the Blackrock ETF gets approved, you won't see me shilling them because I think holding a bitcoin ETF is almost as dumb as letting some website convince you that you own rock jpegs. I don't believe in ETF's or NFT's's

The following is a list of business that I do use:

[CryptoCloaks](<np-embed url="https://www.cryptocloaks.com/">https://www.cryptocloaks.com/</np-embed>) is a company that sells 3D printed items for sats.

Satoshi Coffee Co

I just learned about this company while searching for nostr icons on github. Full disclosure, I have not vetted them yet because I just made my first order. If this coffee is any good, I'll let you know. I'll add a picture of the coffee when it gets here. You know what else? It's not as cheap as Foldgers, but I'm tired of drinking fucking Foldgers. My wife loves Foldgers by the way, so it's not like I'll stop buying it, but I really hope this satoshi coffee is good because hyperbitcoinization won't start until we demand buying coffee with bitcoin like Jewish people demand Kosher drinks.

I've made some videos about them here and highly recomend it because you can use it as a custodial wallet or hook it up to your own node.

These are not all the products I use, and I will add more over time. If you have a bitcoin side hustle or sell a bitcoin related product, let me know about it. I'm always interested in learning about more bitcoin companies. I'm still searching for the best non-custodial lightning wallet, but it is too early to have an opinion yet. I a also spent my spare time learning about multi-sig during the pandemic and collaborative custody has some of the best trade offs, but there are things I like about them and things I don't. Casa is great for privacy, and I like the hardware wallets, but the ETH thing makes me nervous. I don't have any eth, but if I die, I don't want my wife to sign into Casa and see a big Ethereum ad. Unchained Capital has an awesome bitcoin only collaborative custody model, but retrieving the key requires wills and trusts that I don't understand. I like the self sovereign solution unchained provides, but it's too technical for my wife. Nunchuck is also great for the hardcore, but my wife wants to punch me in the face when I talk about it.
Blogging Bitcoin
819,173

      <itunes:summary>

They did not succeed at ending online poker, but they essentially ended access to online poker for anyone with a sub 120 IQ. If we want bitcoin to be for everybody, we need to make it easy for people to buy non-KYC bitcoin. RoboSats is making that their mission.

I've made some videos about them here and highly recomend it because you can use it as a custodial wallet or hook it up to your own node.

819,173

How To Make AI Generated Art With No Credit Card Or Email

I created the images for my last blogpost using Pleb AI. I have paid for various things using bitcoin like hats, hardware wallets, Virtual machines, and gift cards before, but this feels a little different. This actually solves a problem. Don't get me wrong, it's cool to pay for a new laptop using bitcoin on newegg.com. but I could have just as easily used a credit card. Although I could create images using Midjourney or use ChatGPT to run similar closed-source software built by people developing world coin and other technology scarier than anything written by George Orwell, **this service will save me some sats. But wait...There's more:

No credit card

No monthly fee

No ads. By the way, ads suck.

It is Free and Open Source Artificial Intelligence.

Want to generate an image? There are 13 different options:

Tired of spending all your sats on Only fans, try talking to GF Phone Talk. It's like those 1-900-SEX-LINES from the 90's, only instead of talking to a real woman who wasn't pretty enough top get naked for dollars, you read sexy talk generated by AI. What is AI generated sexy talk, you ask? I don't know, but let's find out. I used the suggested prompt:

"I am missing you babe. Can we talk on the phone for a while to give each other company?"

Here is what it came up with:

!

On second thought, you should try to meet a real woman.

Stay Fit

Here's a conversation I had with Zara The FitMinder. I asked:

"I need to prep lunches for the week that follows the paleo diet. What should I make?"

As my teenage son would say, Quinoa seems a little "sus," but that took like 5 seconds. I've been going down this health and fitness rabbit hole lately and meal planning takes some time. This may not be perfect, but it's a great start. I Whoogled:

Whoogle gave me this result:

I love to read books, listen to audio books, and I am an avid Bitcoin Audible Fan, but I hate reading about recipes. I don't want to know you grew up in Wisconsin. I have nothing against Wisconsin. I just want lunch.

I just want lunch. Luckily, I use Mealie on my Umbrel. Mealie scrapes the important stuff like the actual cooking part and formats them nicely. So I type in the URL here and click create:

No more Wisconsin and **I can create my meal plan for the week in about ten minutes. **Now I just need some AI software that can cook and prep my meals. That's not possible yet. I still need to cook my meals. Most people are afraid something like this can take away the nutritionist jobs, but that's short sided. Maybe the registered nutritionist uses tools like this to create meal plans for her clients within minutes instead. Maybe meal prep now comes with the plan, adding more value to the customer. I don't know, but it is is interesting to think of all the possibilities AI can unleash. I

More importantly, it only takes a few hundred sats to free up some of your time. I think that's worth it since time is the only thing more scarce than bitcoin. Time is money as they say. Besides, if you use it 100 times per month, it will only cost you about $3.00 That's 17 bucks less than a ChatGPT subscription would cost you. Don't need it next mont? It doesn't cost anything.

AI For Everybody

Alex Gladstien calls bitcoin the people's money. I love this description. Although bitcoin does not have a central bank, it does have a die hard group of nerds and geeks willing to fight for it. Bitcoin is run by these people running full nodes, mining out of home made heaters, making pull requests and onboarding people onto nostr. Bitcoin is the peoples money because it is run by the people. ** We The People who run bitcoin **want a more fair and just world. If you watch the news, and I wouldn't recommend this, you'll see and hear all about the doom and gloom bitcoin and AI will bring. One, or perhaps both will boil the oceans and AI will kill all the jobs and say I'll be back."

AI can be for everybody when it is paid for using the People's Money. The people's money has no charge backs.

That means you can pay for what you need without giving some centralized trusted third party access to your credit cards. PlebAI doesn't ask for an email. This means you can try the service without a subscription. You don't need a bachelor's degree in Information Technology to set up the free and open source software yourself. Better yet, you don't even need a subscription. As long as you have a smartphone and a few pennies, worth of sats you can create powerful images like this:

While everyone else is shaking in their boots because of thier AI induced job loss jitters, you can learn to use AI to free up your time to do something more productive.

PlebAI means this technology is available to anyone with a smart phone and a few dollars worth of bitcoin. I think this is very valuable, but most people have not seen it in action yet. So I decided to create a video about it on Rumble. Please share this blogpost and the Rumble Video with people who may not be into bitcoin. I started this blog because I wanted to show the world that bitcoin is not just some investment, but a tool. We can use this tool to make the world a better place. That may sound like a rasberry-pi in the sky idea, but AI will be here whether you like it or not. How many hours of your time can a few dollars worth of bitcoin free up for you? If time is money, more time is good. What will you do with this time? Do you want to write a blog, create a business, or just watch the doom and gloom on the boob tube? My hope is that the world wll free uptheir time to solve some of their time to make the world a better place.

**But wait...There's more:

No credit card

No monthly fee

No ads. By the way, ads suck.

It is Free and Open Source Artificial Intelligence.

Want to generate an image? There are 13 different options:

Tired of spending all your sats on Only fans, try talking to GF Phone Talk. It's like those 1-900-SEX-LINES from the 90's, only instead of talking to a real woman who wasn't pretty enough top get naked for dollars, you read sexy talk generated by AI. What is AI generated sexy talk, you ask? I don't know, but let's find out. I used the suggested promp:

I love to read books, listen to audiobooks, and I am an avid Bitcoin Audible Fan, but I hate readig about recipes. I don't want to know you grew up in Wisconsin. I have nothing against Wisconson.

According to Jack Mallers Bitcoin 2022 announcement, Bitcoiner's will be able to spend bitcoin at normie stores in a matter of weeks. This officially makes bitcoin:

A Store of Value

A Medium of Exchange

A technology capable of disrupting SWIFT and Credit Cards

Unit of Account is the final boss. Many of us already think in sats, but when we truly get hyperbitcoinization, we will all think in sats.. When we all think in sats, we'll get paid in bitcoin.

To help make this a reality, I think it is important to support businesses and creators that are already accepting bitcoin. I shop at stores that accept bitcoin. I eat at restaurants that accept bitcoin. I'm excited to buy everything I need using bitcoin.

I also support podcasters with bitcoin using the Fountain App. This allows me to support my favorite podcasters like Matt Odell on Citadel Dispatch. I especially like how his podcast is 100% listener supported. This is how the Internet should be, instead of corporations acting like sharks and treating us like chum. , Mr. Odell says the add based model pays way more than listener contributions. It shouldn't be that way.

Matt Odell has 160,000 followers I suppose many of these followers are nyms, so maybe the actual audience is 80K. Suppose 20% of these people donate 250 sats to Matt Odell by boosting him 250 sats per episode or perhaps streaming 5 sats per minute(which is about 250 sats per hour) 250 sats is only ten cents on the fiat standard. You might not even pick up a dime if you found it on the ground. You might pay 10 cents more per gallon of gas because because it's easier to use a credit card than making a trip to the ATM. You might pay 1600 times that on a Spotify subscription that would give Matt Odell an income that is the equivalent of $1,600 per week or $83,200 per year.

How much do you think Spotify pays podcasters when subscribers listen to them on Spotify? Does some of that $16.00 per month get to podcasters other than people with the name, Joe Rogan? My guess is zero. You could pay 50 content creators $0.10 for $5.00. Bitcoin over the lightning network lets us cut out the middle man?

What About Capital Gains Tax?

If you spend $60.00 a year worth of bitcoin on supporing podcasters, you may owe capital gains tax. In the United States, long term capital gains tax is 15%. So you should send a $9.00 to the IRS to avoid tax evasion. Is $9.00 a year really going to change your lifestyle all that much? If it is, you should consider tax evasion. The government probably won't find out, but I would just pay the taxes to avoid the IRS. I understand the tax protest movement has a long tradition in the U.S. and I'm sympathetic to this movement, but for me...it's just not worth the risk. If a draconian government raised capital gains to 80% I would reconsider my position.

Spend At Least A Small Amount Of Bitcoin

I'm not saying sell all your bitcoin and buy a lambo. I'm saying get comfortable paying in bitcoin. Support Businesses that accept bitcoin. You can spend and replace or use Strike if you are lucky enough to live in the US.
Are there privacy implications of this? Yes.
Am I better off buying Bitcoin with cash I earn under the table on Bisq, coin-joining on Samourai and sending it to Muun to make lightning payments? Also yes.
Most people are not going to do that, but that's the goal.

Ideally, you want to make your living by selling goods and services for bitcoin. Then spend bitcoin on everything you need. You'll be surprised how your spending habits change when using peer-to-peer electronic cash as your money. To be honest, even cuck bucks seem to make you spend less money because it takes away the convenience of a credit card. I would say this is the main drawback of using something like Strike for your payments. Yeah... I know...KYC, but if you only spend fiat with Strike, the KYC is not as big of a deal until you get banned from using the app for making protests or selling tit pics. This negates most of the benefits of a peer-to-peer network. When dealing with a company, the relationship is no longer peer-to-peer, but rather master, slave. The ability to spend your money is entrusted with a third party.

Of course, most people would probably use Strike to stack too, since there are virtually no fees. Ideally, you would want to use bitcoin in a completely peer-to-peer way, but that's probably not going to happen. Most people will probably choose convenience. I suggest you use Bisq, but I understand it's not a perfect world. If you want to pay my paywall using Strike, I'm not going to stop you.
